 An important feature of The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) principle is that it sets out minimum standards of care and development that Childcare providers are expected to deliver to Children in their care. Instead of prescribing a set of learning objectives or goals, it ensures the continuity and encourages learning in stages of development that recognizes that Children are unique and cannot progress and learn in the same way or at a uniform rate while being cared for in a safe and secure environment.

The EYFS is a government framework that gives an indication of stages of development i.e. early learning goals that what most Children will have achieved within key timescales.
